Job Purpose
The Director – Technical is responsible for leading all technical operations of a major, large‑scale mechanical attraction. The role oversees complex mechanical and electrical systems, ensures full operational safety, enhances system performance, and maintains the attraction’s position as a world‑class engineering landmark. This position requires deep technical leadership experience within large mechanical structures, amusement attractions, or comparable mega‑engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Oversight
- Ensure continuous, safe operation of all mechanical and electrical systems through comprehensive maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical improvements.
- Implement structured preventive and predictive maintenance programs aligned with international safety standards.
- Ensure technical activities meet local regulatory and environmental compliance requirements.
Strategic Planning
- Develop long‑term technical strategies, enhancement roadmaps, and upgrade initiatives to sustain world‑class performance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and external contractors to plan, design, and execute complex technical projects safely and efficiently.
Safety and Compliance
- Establish, implement, and enforce stringent safety protocols across all technical operations.
- Conduct routine safety audits and risk assessments, implementing preventive measures to eliminate hazards.
- Stay updated on global advancements in safety technologies and incorporate relevant innovations.
Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage the technical department’s annual budget.
- Negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure high‑quality materials and services at competitive costs.
- Optimize utilization of manpower, tools, and technical resources to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multi‑disciplinary technical team.
- Set performance expectations, identify development needs, and ensure continuous capability growth and innovation.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal functions such as operations, procurement, facility management, and HR to align technical strategies with broader organizational goals.
- Provide detailed technical reports, risk assessments, and strategic insights to senior leadership.
- Engage with local authorities and industry bodies to ensure compliance and represent the organization on technical matters.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Maintain mechanical and electrical system uptime of 99% or higher.
- Achieve full compliance with all applicable local and international safety regulations with zero non‑compliance audit findings.
- Reduce annual maintenance expenditures by 5–10% through efficient resource planning and vendor optimization.
- Deliver technical projects and upgrades on schedule and within budget with a minimum 95% completion success rate.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10–15 years of senior‑level technical management experience in amusement attractions, large‑scale mechanical installations, or comparable engineering environments.
Skills and Technical Competencies
- Demonstrated expertise in managing large, complex mechanical and electrical engineering projects.
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing high‑performance technical teams.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Advanced certifications in engineering, project management, safety, or related technical fields are preferred.
- Experience in high‑value vendor negotiations and contract management.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of modern mechanical systems, engineering technologies, and sustainable operational practices.
