Define the direction and guidelines for planning and organizing academic activities of the faculty, supervise course progress and monitor performance in terms of content effectiveness, academic action and student satisfaction (student voice and NPS) aligned with the CAA and KHDA - UAE educational validation bodies; direct and co-ordinate activities related to innovation of the academic offer and teaching methodology; contribute to tutor training; manage relationships with academic Institutions.
Key responsibilities
- Strategy – Monitor trends in the Education market and review / innovate the academic offer (participation at Edu Days). Support the School Director in innovating the academic offer considering impact on UAE educational validation system requirements; develop new programmes proposals and improve existing ones; improve teaching methodology; work closely with the QA department to ensure compliance with regulations for syllabus accreditation and QA requirements; represent the school in partnerships and with national and international counterparts.
- Operation Leadership – Manage Tutors and coordinate their activities; plan and organize academic processes, course planning and Handbooks; adapt the academic offer to be internationally suitable and aligned with local needs; ensure teaching methodology and internal processes are respected (participation at Edu Board) and monitor course compliance with UAE validation requirements (CAA and KHDA).
- Supervise tutor selection, distribute tasks across courses, select Visiting Tutors, and organize tutor training activities (e.g., Alumni project – IMFT).
- Coordinate and supervise student satisfaction activities, resolve issues during study paths (customized study plans, etc.); uphold safeguarding standards and improve academic offer and delivery for a positive student experience.
- Plan Open Day academic activities (lectures, workshops, etc.).
- Collaborate with Program Leaders and tutors to ensure timely completion of course files.
- Support admissions for RPL, credit transfers and new admissions (interviews, compliance with CAA standards).
- Budgeting, Forecast and Reporting – Submit requests related to academic tools; prepare and analyse periodic reports (monthly) to monitor local performance and justify discrepancies with corrective actions; manage the yearly budget for part-time tutors, academic resources and student activities; support the SD and career & industry manager to develop professional trainings for the industry (e.g., bespoke academic programs for K12 and for local and international brands).
- People Leadership and Management – Manage resources, plan and organize activities, participate in selection processes; ensure policy, ethics and procedures are followed; support Succession Planning, Change Management and innovation initiatives; ensure all academic documentation is accurate and updated; conduct annual tutor performance evaluations and appraisals.
- Institution & Program revalidation – Support SD and QA in preparation and submission of requirements for renewal of institution and program validation and for new programs.
- Research – Support Head of Research to ensure full-time faculty publish as per KPIs; encourage part-time faculty and students to produce additional research in line with CAA KPIs.
Education & Professional Background
- Master degree in creative disciplines or related field is mandatory. PhD is a plus
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in academic management at university level. Knowledge of CAA system is a plus
- Relevant teaching experience with students from a wide range of age groups and skill levels (undergraduate and postgraduate)
- Strong international experience and connections with design, fashion and luxury systems
- Experience creating educational materials and extracurricular activities to challenge students and meet curriculum objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent research skills, pursuing research activities with a research-oriented approach to teaching
- Strong relationship-building skills to network with luxury industries (fashion, design, beauty, luxury hospitality)
