Job Title – Director – Finance Controller

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director – Finance Controller to lead financial governance, planning, and control functions within the shipping and logistics sector. This role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, risk management, and supporting executive leadership with accurate financial insights to drive sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Governance
  • Lead and oversee all financial control, accounting, and reporting functions.
  • Establish and maintain strong financial governance, internal controls, and compliance frameworks.
  • Ensure adherence to international accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial planning processes.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management and the board.
  • Analyze financial performance, variances, and trends to support informed decision‑making.
Accounting, Reporting & Compliance
  • Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage audits, tax compliance, and statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate consolidation of financial results.
Cash Flow, Treasury & Risk Management
  • Oversee cash flow management, treasury operations, and working capital optimization.
  • Manage banking relationships, financing arrangements, and credit facilities.
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Cost Control & Operational Finance
  • Monitor operating costs, voyage profitability, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Support commercial and operations teams with financial analysis and pricing insights.
  • Evaluate capital expenditures and investment proposals.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance teams across regions.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership, commercial teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a key liaison with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Masters degree preferred. Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CA, CIMA) is mandatory. 12–18 years of progressive finance experience, with senior leadership exposure. Strong experience in shipping, logistics, or transportation industries preferred. Proven expertise in multi‑entity, multi‑currency financial operations.
