Responsibilities

• Prepare hemodialysis machine for dialysis treatment.
• Initiate and terminate dialysis treatment for renal failure patients.
• Monitor machine and patient parameters during dialysis procedure.
• Disinfect and clean hemodialysis machine after each procedure.
• Manage complications during hemodialysis.

Job description

• Prepare hemodialysis machine for dialysis treatment.
• Initiate and terminate dialysis treatment for the renal failure patients.
• Set all the parameters in the dialysis machine as per nephrologist order.
• Monitor machine parameters and patient parameters periodically during dialysis procedure and document it.
• Disinfect and clean hemodialysis machine after each procedure.
• Cannulate av fistula and av graft.
• Disinfect, clean and maintain water treatment system.
• Reverse osmosis water sending periodically for microbiological analysis, chemical analysis and keep records.
• Sending Dialysate sample periodically for microbiological and chemical analysis and keep records.
• Appropriate record keeping for periodic prevention maintenance of dialysis machine, R.O, and dialysis chairs.
• Monitors compliance with policy and procedure.
• Management of complications during hemodialysis.
• Provide patient privacy and maintain confidentiality.
• Provide a safe environment free from any form of discrimination and harassment.
• Aware of patient rights.
• Maintain an inventory of dialysis consumables.
• Maintain high standards of patient care through continuing education of staff regarding operating, cleaning and general maintenance and troubleshooting of hemodialysis machines and R.O units.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their family.
• Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
• Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
• Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
• Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs.
• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
• Comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies and safe working procedures.
• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
• Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety
• Assist with the preparation of risk assessments.
• Report OSH Hazards, incidents, near misses and issues.
• Reduce, Reuse, Recycling of waste as much as possible.
• Attend OSH Trainings, awareness programs and mock drills.
• Participates in the OSHMS audits, inspections, ensuring standards are maintained.
• PCI is everyone’s responsibility. All staff are required to read and implement the NMC PCI Policy and Strategy in an effort to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness at all times, thus reducing the risk of infection in patients, staff and visitors.

The strictest hand hygiene, 5 moments of hand hygiene, bare below the elbows and environmental care, will be expected of all staff, including the post holder, at all times.
