Job Description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS: The Dental Nurse oversees and coordinates the day-to-day patient care activities of a specified clinical practice, ensuring adherence to established clinical policies, protocols, regulations, and standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments used in the clinic.
  • Assists dental students in the clinics.
  • Assists in preparing the patient for treatment by students and assist during the treatment as needed.
  • Evaluates the students’ performance and liability in the clinics.
  • Demonstrates minor oral surgery procedures (e.g. Impacted Teeth).
  • Upgrades the core knowledge of the dental students.
  • Helps dental students in their researches and seminars.
  • Assists in the consultation and dental check-ups for patients.
  • Performs routine inspection for cross-infection control.
  • Invigilates during mid-term and final exams.
  • Assists the dental technicians in their laboratory tasks.
  • Maintains hygiene, health and safety measures in the dental clinics.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or any related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of experience that is directly related to the duties specified.
  • MOH License.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Ability to work as a team member within a clinical environment.
  • Ability to set up and prepare dental nursing procedures in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of dental supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of governmental/institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental outpatient nursing services.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of dental equipment in accordance with prescribed procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety procedures, standards, and protocols.
  • Knowledge of sterile procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment.
  • Moderate physical activity.
  • Requires handling of average-weight objects.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens.

SUPERVISION:

  • Reports to: Manager of CCEE/Clinics, Head of Department.
