Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in HIMS or Medical Records Department preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience in clinical coding.
• Knowledge of Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnosis and procedure codes from patient records.
• Apply coding guidelines accurately for all patient types.
• Review documentation for completeness and accuracy.

Skills

Clinical coding

Health Information Management (HIMS)

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Good verbal and written English skills

Education

Associates of Science in Health Information Technology or Healthcare Management

Graduate of a recognized clinical coding program

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential
