Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Civil / Structural Designer to join its engineering team. The role focuses on the design phase of major onshore oil and gas projects. The ideal candidate will have 8-10 years of experience and strong expertise in SmartPlant 3D (SP3D). Responsibilities include developing detailed designs, coordinating with engineers, and ensuring compliance with project standards. Immediate availability and UAE residency are required.

Qualifications

Job description

We are currently seeking a Civil / Structural Designer with strong expertise in SP3D to join our engineering team in Abu Dhabi. The role is focused on the engineering/design phase of major onshore oil and gas projects. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of civil and structural design principles and handson experience using SmartPlant 3D (SP3D).

Job Responsibilities

• Develop detailed civil and structural design models and drawings using SP3D.
• Interpret project specifications design inputs and technical standards to produce accurate design deliverables.
• Prepare and update GA drawings reinforcement detailing foundation layouts structural steel arrangements and fabrication drawings.
• Coordinate with Civil/Structural Engineers and other disciplines (piping electrical mechanical) to ensure design consistency.
• Assist in clash detection and resolution during model review sessions.
• Ensure compliance with project standards specifications and applicable codes (e.g. BS ACI ASCE).
• Participate in internal and client design reviews and incorporate feedback into the design.
• Manage and organize design documentation and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelors/Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering or relevant discipline.
• 8 to 10 years of experience in civil/structural design specifically for onshore oil and gas projects.
• Strong expertise and handson experience with SP3D is mandatory.
• Good understanding of structural analysis detailing and fabrication requirements.
• Familiar with international standards and codes (e.g. ACI BS ASTM).
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Must be currently based in the UAE and available to join immediately.
