Job Description
The Internal Control Manager will be responsible for the overall development, embedding, and management of the internal control framework across NI UAE & Middle East Region. This includes leading the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of operational, financial, and compliance risks, and ensuring strong governance, effective controls, and full adherence to regulatory requirements.
The role will also lead several critical Internal Control, Quality Assurance & Control, and Business Continuity projects and programs of change, ensuring a strong control environment across all functions and regions.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Internal Control function, ensuring the effective implementation, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of NI’s internal control framework.
- Influence and empower teams to take ownership of operational, financial, and compliance risks, ensuring proper identification, documentation, testing, and remediation.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of business processes, identify gaps or weaknesses, and negotiate risk mitigation strategies with stakeholders, ensuring agreement and closure within risk appetite.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, NI Group governance requirements, and applicable local regulatory frameworks across UAE, Jordan, Egypt, and other regions.
- Support senior management by providing insights on emerging risks, control trends, audit readiness, and regulatory expectations.
- Prepare, execute, and monitor annual internal control plans, including risk‑based operational reviews, thematic reviews, and follow‑ups.
- Develop strong working relationships with NLT/Senior Management, NI Group, Internal Audit, Compliance, Risk, and external consultants.
- Coach, mentor, and develop regional control teams, fostering strong control capabilities across all markets.
- Increase the profile of the Internal Control function as a trusted business partner and subject matter expert.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory updates, operational risks, and fraud trends to strengthen NI’s control environment.
- Recommend process and system enhancements to reduce operational losses, improve efficiency, and ensure effective risk mitigation.
- Support the implementation of automation, data‑driven controls, and continuous monitoring tools.
Operational Review Responsibilities:
- Provide review coverage of key operational functions across departments and countries according to approved plans.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of controls over financial transactions, operational processes, and customer‑impacting activities.
- Ensure compliance with Group policies, procedures, and local regulatory requirements.
- Prepare clear reports (draft and final) with observations, evidence, and recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor corrective actions to ensure timely closure and elevate long‑outstanding issues when needed.
- Support functions in solving control problems without compromising service quality or SLAs.
Identity & Access Governance (if applicable):
- Support the oversight of access control governance and user access management across applications where aligned with Internal Control.
- Review access rights, segregation of duties, and system control gaps; support remediation and improvements.
- Provide reporting and insights related to access‑related risks.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Business; internal audit or control certifications preferred (CIA, CISA, CRMA, ISO standards, etc.).
- 10 Plus years of experience in Internal Control, Internal Audit, Operational Risk, or related control functions.
