Materials Resource Planner-JUNIOR role
Job summary
A recruitment agency is seeking a Materials Resource Planner to ensure correct materials are available for manufacturing needs in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Responsibilities include procurement coordination, inventory management, and supplier interaction. The ideal candidate will have a supply chain qualification, strong analytical skills, and 1-2 years of relevant experience. This role operates in a fast-paced environment with regular team interactions.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role required.
- Experience with Sync is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate material requirements for manufacturing.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels.
- Coordinate with suppliers for delivery schedules.

A Materials Resource Planner (also known as an MRP Planner or Materials Planner) is a supply chain and production professional responsible for ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time and in the right quantities to support manufacturing operations and meet customer demand.

- Maintain and manage the MRP system to ensure accurate material requirements.
- Analyse production schedules and forecast material needs.
- Create, release, and monitor purchase and work orders.
- Coordinate with suppliers for delivery schedules, lead times, and order statuses.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure stock accuracy.
- Review and update Bills of Materials (BOM) and item master data.
- Identify material shortages, delays, or risks and escalate or resolve them promptly.
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics to align material flow with production demands.

- Education: Supply Chain Qualification
- Matric with Maths
- Skills: Strong communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of supply chain, manufacturing, and inventory processes
- Excel knowledge
- Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in similar role
- Sync experience advantageous
Fast-paced environment with tight production timelines. May require occasional travel to supplier sites. Office-based with regular interaction with operations team.
