Key responsibilities include developing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts, overseeing the supply chain and inventory, managing vendor performance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and ethical standards.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement innovative, cost-effective procurement strategies; identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers; and build and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Negotiation & Contract Management: Negotiate favourable commercial and contractual terms with suppliers for price, quality, and delivery, and review existing contracts for ongoing feasibility.
  • Process & Compliance: Direct and manage the end-to-end purchasing process, ensuring compliance with procurement regulations, ethical standards, and safety and health regulations specific to the mining sector.
  • Stakeholder & Budget Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine procurement needs, manage departmental budgets, and monitor performance against targets.
  • Logistics & Inventory Oversight: Oversee inbound/outbound logistics requirements and direct inventory management, including stores replenishment and storage of equipment and spares.
  • Perform risk assessments on contracts and agreements and implement control measures to mitigate risks associated with procurement.
  • Reporting & Improvement: Monitor and report on departmental performance, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and ensure the implementation of corrective actions from audit findings.
  • Parts and service supply contract negotiation and management.
  • Supply chain optimisation.
  • Inventory SKU mix and holding optimisation.
  • Material Pricing Index development implementation and execution.
  • Working capital planning and forecasting for group supply chain.
  • Continuous cash balancing to optimise immediate stock replenishment with long term balance.

Profile
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, or a related field is often required.
  • Experience: Significant experience (e.g., 6+ years) in procurement or supply chain management, with direct mining industry experience being essential.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer skills, including proficiency with office software like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and experience with enterprise-level software packages such as JDE.
  • Key Attributes: Excellent negotiation skills, strong analytical abilities, and a deep understanding of supply chain and logistics.
