Indigo Berries is recruiting a Cold-Room Manager to join the team.

This position will be responsible for overseeing the administration of cold storage facilities, ensuring optimal temperature and humidity levels to preserve the freshness and quality of blueberries. The Cold-Room Manager will collaborate with production, packaging, and logistics teams to coordinate movement and delivery, maintain accurate inventory records, implement cold chain management systems, and stay updated on industry best practices to improve cold room operations.

• Monitor temperature and humidity levels, reporting fluctuations.
• Plan shifts and manage overtime for efficient operations.
• Communicate with the commercial team regarding packing instructions and provide fruit quality feedback.
• Maintain production data, including location, quantity, and quality records.
• Assess raw stock availability and coordinate stock transfers within cold room locations.
• Generate work orders for pallet building and assign IDs.
• Prepare inter-company sales orders and inspection documents for PPECB.
• Assist with loading and unloading blueberries, ensuring proper handling.
• Dispatch fruit to the packhouse and manage field-packed pallets.
• Oversee inter-company return authorizations and manage inventory levels.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with protocols.

• Grade 12 education.
• Experience in the soft fruit industry or similar.
• Experience in a high-paced production environment.
• Computer skills: MS Excel, Word, Device Magic, Oracle Netsuite.

• Good communication skills in English.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic and proficiency in data capturing and record-keeping.
• Knowledge of cold room operations, stock management, and intercompany processes is beneficial.
