Placements24 in Cape Town is seeking a skilled Telecoms Field Technician to join the operations team. You will install, maintain, and repair customer premise equipment, and service fiber and copper networks at client sites.

The ideal candidate is physically fit, independent, with strong troubleshooting and customer service skills, holds a technical qualification in electronics/telecoms, and has a valid driver's license for field work.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Telecoms Field Technician or similar role.
• Strong understanding of DSL, Fiber, and Wireless technologies.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot customer premise equipment (CPE), including modems, routers, and VoIP devices.
• Perform routine maintenance and testing of network infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper lines.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to internet, voice, and television services.
• Ensure all installations and repairs meet company standards and safety regulations.
• Provide clear technical explanations and support to customers regarding their services.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service tickets and inventory.
