Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Telecommunications Technician to join our Cape Town team. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, switches, routers, and base stations.

You will diagnose and resolve issues, often working both on-site and remotely to ensure reliable service delivery in the Western Cape. Ideal candidates will have a related diploma, hands-on experience in telecoms, and a strong knowledge of fiber optics and

Qualifications

• Relevant technical certification or a diploma in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or in a similar technical role.
• Solid understanding of telecommunications principles, including fiber optics, cellular networks, and IP-based systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for network testing and repair.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Cape Town area as required for on-site tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on network equipment to prevent service disruptions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by customers or detected through network monitoring systems.
• Respond to service calls, identify the root cause of problems, and implement effective repair solutions.
• Collaborate with the network operations center (NOC) and engineering teams on system upgrades and new deployments.
• Ensure all installations and repairs adhere to company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
