Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Telecoms Field Technician in South Africa to install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment at customer sites and network facilities in Tembisa. You will be the face of the company, delivering on-site support and ensuring service levels are met.

The role requires practical hands-on skills, diagnostic ability, and the ability to work in varying environments. A company vehicle, training, and travel may be provided; a valid license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Telecoms Technician or similar field service role.
• Proficient with telecom hardware and cabling installation and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of DSL, fiber optic, and wireless technologies.
• Ability to read technical diagrams and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Good problem-solving and physical ability for on-site work.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot customer premises equipment (CPE), including routers, modems, and voice services.
• Perform site surveys and prepare installation locations for new telecommunications equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, signal strength problems, and equipment malfunctions in the field.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and company procedures while working on-site.
• Provide excellent customer service, explaining technical issues and resolutions clearly to clients.
