Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer to lead electrical maintenance in a heavy industrial setting. Based in Mahikeng, North West, you will oversee a team of technicians, implement preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot advanced electrical systems to ensure reliability.

The role requires a B.Eng or B.Sc in Electrical Engineering with at least 7 years’ experience, strong MV/LV knowledge, CMMS proficiency, and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in electrical maintenance, preferably in heavy industrial/mining environments.
• Strong knowledge of high/low voltage systems, MCCs and VSDs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the electrical maintenance team.
• Develop and implement preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
• Oversee maintenance, repair and overhaul of electrical machinery (motors, generators, switchgear, control systems).
• Troubleshoot complex electrical faults efficiently.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Manage spare parts inventory and budgets.
• Review and approve maintenance procedures and work instructions.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering to minimize downtime.
• Mentor junior staff and drive continuous improvement.
