Job summary

Placements24 seeks a seasoned Electrical Engineer to lead electrical infrastructure for Vereeniging mining operations, overseeing power distribution, underground systems, and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable performance.

The role demands 7+ years in mining/heavy industry, strong project management, and ideally Pr. Eng. registration. You will plan maintenance, upgrades, and ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act in a high-demand environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years in mining or heavy industrial sector.
• Pr. Eng. with ECSA is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of high and medium voltage systems and mining equipment.
• Experience with PLC systems and variable speed drives.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain electrical systems and equipment in a mining environment, including power distribution, motor control centers, and heavy-duty machinery.
• Ensure the safe and reliable operation of underground electrical installations and ventilation systems.
• Plan, execute, and supervise electrical maintenance and upgrade projects.
• Conduct electrical hazard identification and risk assessments, implementing mitigation strategies.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for electrical assets.
• Ensure compliance with mining regulations, safety standards (Mine Health and Safety Act), and company policies.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical faults and provide timely solutions to minimize downtime.
