Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer to lead electrical maintenance in a heavy industrial setting. Based in Mahikeng, North West, you will oversee a team of technicians, implement preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot advanced electrical systems to ensure reliability.

The role requires a B.Eng or B.Sc in Electrical Engineering with at least 7 years’ experience, strong MV/LV knowledge, CMMS proficiency, and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in electrical maintenance, preferably in heavy industrial/mining environments.
• Strong knowledge of high/low voltage systems, MCCs and VSDs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the electrical maintenance team.

About the Role

Our client, a major industrial player in the mining and processing sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer to oversee and enhance their electrical maintenance operations in Mahikeng, North West. This role is vital for ensuring the continuous and safe operation of all electrical plant and equipment. You will lead a team of maintenance technicians, develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies, and troubleshoot complex electrical issues. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of industrial electrical systems, and a proactive approach to maintenance management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the electrical maintenance team, providing technical guidance and supervision.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventative and predictive maintenance programs for electrical equipment.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of electrical machinery, including motors, generators, switchgear, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical faults and failures efficiently.

Requirements

• B.Eng or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably within a heavy industrial or mining environment.
• Proven experience with high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems, motor control centers (MCCs), and variable speed drives (VSDs).
• Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance techniques and CMMS software.
• Experience with troubleshooting complex electrical systems and equipment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be willing to work in Mahikeng, North West, and be available for emergency call-outs.
