Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Electrical Engineer to ensure safe and efficient operation of electrical systems at our mining site near Nelspruit. You will manage design, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical infrastructure, including power distribution, heavy machinery and control systems.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Pr.Eng registration, and 7+ years in industrial electrical engineering with at least 4 years in mining.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering.
• 4+ years in a mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control, PLC systems, and hazardous area electrical safety.
• Experience with electrical safety management systems and relevant legislation.
• Proven leadership and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems for mining operations.
• Develop and implement preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
• Ensure safe operation of high-voltage distribution systems, substations, and transformers.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on mining equipment.
• Manage electrical safety compliance, audits and regulations.
• Optimize power consumption and energy efficiency opportunities.
• Supervise and mentor electricians and technicians.
