About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding global e-commerce enterprise, is seeking an experienced and strategic Remote HR Operations Manager. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa, though proximity to Mossel Bay, Western Cape may be beneficial for occasional team meetups. You will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all HR operational processes, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and a positive employee experience across our distributed workforce. This includes managing HRIS, payroll coordination, benefits administration, policy implementation, and ensuring adherence to labor laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR operations, excellent process management skills, and a proven ability to manage HR functions in a remote-first environment. You will be a key driver in scaling our HR infrastructure to support rapid business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the HR Operations function, ensuring efficient and compliant HR service delivery.
• Oversee the administration and optimization of the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Manage the payroll process in collaboration with external providers, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
• Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement funds, and other perks.
• Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures to align with business needs and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all South African labor laws and regulations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within HR Operations to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
• Manage HR reporting and analytics, providing insights into key HR metrics to senior leadership.
• Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a smooth and compliant experience for all employees.
• Serve as a key point of contact for complex HR operational queries from employees and managers across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in HR Operations or HR Management, with a significant focus on operational efficiency and scalability.
• Proven experience in managing HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration, preferably in a remote or distributed environment.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labor law and HR compliance.
• Excellent process management and project management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and thrive in a remote setting.
• Experience with global HR operations is a plus.
• Leadership experience in managing HR operational teams.
