Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Remote Helpdesk Technician to provide essential IT support for a distributed workforce. This role offers the flexibility of a fully remote position while supporting staff across multiple locations, including Mpumalanga.

You will be the first line of defense for technical problems, troubleshooting hardware, software, OS, and network issues, and you’ll help onboard new employees with equipment and accounts while maintaining high customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Helpdesk Technician or in a similar IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business applications.
• Experience with remote support tools and ticketing systems (e.g., Zendesk, ServiceNow).
• Familiarity with network protocols and troubleshooting network issues.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or ITIL Foundation are a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support to employees via phone, email, and remote support tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, operating systems, and network connectivity.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
• Create and manage user accounts and permissions in Active Directory.
• Document all support requests and resolutions accurately in the ticketing system.
• Assist with onboarding new employees by setting up their IT equipment and accounts.
