Job summary

Placements24 is sourcing a Remote Electrical Engineer specializing in Embedded Systems Design. You will design embedded hardware, write firmware in C/C++, and validate hardware/firmware in a remote-first setting.

The role requires strong problem-solving, independence, and crisp communication across time zones. With 5+ years in embedded design and proficiency in ARM Cortex-M/ESP32, you’ll contribute to IoT product lines and collaborate with software, product, and mechanical teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded systems electrical design.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded applications.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad).
• Familiarity with microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M, ESP32, PIC) and their development environments.
• Experience with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi).
• Understanding of power management for battery-operated devices.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Excellent problem-solving and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded electrical hardware, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Write and debug firmware for embedded systems using C/C++ and assembly.
• Integrate hardware and firmware for seamless operation of embedded devices.
• Develop test plans and perform thorough hardware/firmware testing and validation.
• Troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues throughout development lifecycles.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, and product teams to define requirements.
• Research and evaluate new technologies, components, and tools to enhance performance.
• Manage component sourcing, prototyping, and vendor relations.
• Contribute to design process documentation and continuous improvement.
• Stay current with industry trends in embedded systems and IoT.
