Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer to join a fully remote team based from East London, Eastern Cape. You will design, develop and test firmware for IoT devices using C/C++, work with ARM Cortex-M and ESP32 MCUs, and implement RTOS with a focus on hardware-software integration.

The role emphasizes remote collaboration, rigorous testing, and contributing to product development lifecycle. A background in embedded development and strong problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in embedded firmware development.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M/ESP32 MCUs and IDEs.
• Strong RTOS knowledge and device-driver development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement firmware for embedded IoT devices using C/C++.
• Work with microcontrollers, sensors and communication modules (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa).
• Develop and integrate device drivers for hardware peripherals.
• Implement RTOS and ensure efficient task scheduling and resource management.
• Perform unit testing and debug firmware for reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers and product managers.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality standards.
• Document firmware designs and user guides.
