Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to design, implement, and test firmware for a broad range of IoT devices in a fully remote setup. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to deliver robust embedded solutions while ensuring security and reliability.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of embedded experience, strong C/C++, RTOS (FreeRTOS/Zephyr), and ARM Cortex-M expertise, with a focus on performance, power efficiency, and rigorous testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in embedded systems development.
• Strong proficiency in embedded C and C++.
• Hands-on experience with RTOS like FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar.
• Experience with ARM, ESP32 microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with IoT communication protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MQTT).
• Proficiency with debugging tools and emulators (JTAG, oscilloscopes).
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and detail orientation.
• Strong communication skills for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain firmware for embedded systems and IoT devices using C/C++.
• Implement RTOS and drivers for microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M).
• Develop and integrate communication protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRaWAN, MQTT).
• Perform thorough testing and debugging, including unit and integration tests.
• Optimize firmware for performance, power, and memory usage.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers during design and prototyping.
• Contribute to software architecture and design patterns for embedded systems.
• Ensure security and reliability of firmware with appropriate safeguards.
