Placements24 is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer for a fully remote role. You will own the lifecycle of embedded firmware for IoT devices, collaborating with hardware teams to design architectures, select components, and implement robust firmware for secure, scalable systems.

You will work with RTOS like FreeRTOS/Zephyr, embedded Linux, and various IoT protocols, while maintaining clear documentation and contributing to a globally distributed team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional embedded systems experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded applications.
• Hands-on experience with popular microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M, ESP32).
• Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr) and embedded Linux is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with MQTT, CoAP, TCP/IP, Zigbee, etc.
• Experience with hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and Git.
• Excellent problem-solving and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across distances.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded firmware for IoT devices using microcontrollers and communication protocols.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system architecture and select components.
• Implement firmware in C/C++ and potentially Python.
• Develop and maintain bootloaders, device drivers, and RTOS.
• Implement security measures to protect devices and data integrity.
• Perform unit and integration testing and debugging of embedded systems.
• Work with cloud backend and mobile teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Document firmware designs, APIs, and testing procedures.
