Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Senior Firmware Engineer to join our IoT and embedded systems development team. You will design, develop, test, and optimize firmware for a range of devices using C/C++ and RTOS, collaborating with hardware, software, and product teams in a virtual setting.

The role emphasizes scalable, secure firmware architecture, device drivers, and robust testing, with emphasis on real-time performance and hardware–software integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional embedded firmware development.
• Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or ThreadX.
• Strong understanding of microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M).
• Familiarity with embedded communication protocols.
• Experience with debugging tools and oscilloscopes.
• Excellent problem-solving and remote collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for embedded systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and debug firmware for embedded systems and IoT devices using C/C++.
• Implement and optimize RTOS and device drivers.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to define requirements and ensure hardware–software integration.
• Develop and maintain scalable and secure firmware architecture.
• Implement communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi).
• Conduct code reviews and improve coding standards.
• Develop and execute unit and integration tests for firmware modules.
• Troubleshoot complex firmware issues identified during development or by customers.
• Collaborate in a remote, agile environment with cross‑functional teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of firmware development lifecycle and toolchains.
• Stay updated with embedded system advancements.
