Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vigilant and technically adept NOC Technician to join the client’s Pietermaritzburg team. You will monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot a telecom network infrastructure, acting as the first line of defense against outages and performance issues.

You will handle real-time monitoring, respond to alerts, perform diagnostics, and document incidents for resolution. The role requires shift work and strong networking knowledge to ensure reliable service delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a NOC or similar network monitoring environment.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP.
• Familiarity with monitoring software and ticketing systems.
• Ability to work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance, availability, and security using advanced NOC tools and dashboards.
• Respond promptly to network alerts, incidents, and customer-reported issues, performing initial diagnosis and troubleshooting.
• Escalate complex technical problems to senior engineers and relevant support teams with detailed documentation.
• Perform routine network health checks, preventative maintenance, and system updates as scheduled.
• Maintain accurate incident logs, system status reports, and knowledge base articles for reference and training.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors to resolve network issues in a timely manner.
