Placements24 seeks a vigilant NOC Engineer to monitor, analyze, and resolve network incidents in a remote-based role supporting Pretoria operations.

You will handle real-time performance issues, document actions, and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure network availability and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Network Operations Center or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP and common network devices.
• Experience with network monitoring software and ticketing systems; able to report clearly.

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor network performance and availability using NOC tools.
• Detect, diagnose, and resolve incidents, outages and performance degradations.
• Perform first-level troubleshooting and escalate complex issues.
• Document all incidents, actions, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Contribute to NOC procedures and runbooks.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and technically proficient Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer to join their dedicated monitoring team based remotely, but supporting operations in Pretoria . In this critical role, you will be responsible for the real-time monitoring, analysis, and resolution of network incidents and performance issues. Your expertise will ensure the continuous availability and optimal performance of our client's network infrastructure, safeguarding service delivery. The ideal candidate is adept at identifying potential problems proactively, responding swiftly to alerts, and maintaining clear communication channels during operational events.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively monitor network performance and availability using advanced NOC tools and dashboards.
• Detect, diagnose, and resolve network incidents, outages, and performance degradation in a timely manner.
• Perform first-level troubleshooting and escalation of complex issues to appropriate engineering teams.
• Document all incidents, actions taken, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of NOC procedures and runbooks.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless network operations and service restoration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a Network Operations Center or similar network monitoring environment.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP) and common network devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Familiarity with network monitoring software (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix) and ticketing systems.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective incident reporting and team collaboration, supporting our Pretoria operations.
