About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Maintenance Technician to join their essential services team in the Stellenbosch vicinity. This role is responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of all mining equipment and machinery, ensuring operational continuity and safety. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, perform routine inspections, and maintain detailed maintenance records. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver with a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to keeping the mine's fleet in optimal working condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy mining equipment (e.g., excavators, trucks, drills).
• Diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance logs and inventory of spare parts.
• Adhering strictly to all health and safety protocols on site.
• Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Requirements

• Trade qualification (e.g., N2 or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Fitting and Turning.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of heavy machinery.
• Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often under pressure.
