Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance operations at a major mining site in Klerksdorp. This hybrid role combines on-site supervision of a technical team with remote planning, scheduling, and reporting to optimize equipment uptime and safety.

You will plan preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, manage spares, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 6 years of maintenance supervision experience in mining.
• Strong knowledge of heavy mining equipment such as excavators and trucks.
• Experience with CMMS software.
• Ability to lead and motivate a technical team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance operations at their facility in Klerksdorp. This hybrid role requires a hands-on approach to managing a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all mining equipment. You will play a key role in planning preventative maintenance schedules, responding to breakdowns, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, including mechanics, electricians, and technicians.


• Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance programs for all mining machinery and equipment.


• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures, ensuring timely and effective repairs.


• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes to minimize downtime.


• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.


• Maintain detailed maintenance records and performance metrics, reporting on key indicators.

Requirements

• Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Strong knowledge of heavy mining equipment, including excavators, trucks, and processing plant machinery.


• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) software.
