Placements24 is seeking a Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance activities at its Centurion facility in Gauteng. You will lead a skilled team, implement preventative programs, and respond rapidly to downtime while maintaining high safety and efficiency standards.

The role requires 5+ years in mining/heavy industry maintenance supervision, strong hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical expertise, and CMMS proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance supervision experience in mining or heavy industry.
• Proven ability to manage teams of technicians and coordinate maintenance activities.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• Experience with CMMS and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of maintenance team (mechanics, electricians, fitters).
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for mining equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnose issues, and coordinate timely repairs to minimise downtime.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement for critical components.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure safety and company standards.

About the Role

Our client seeks a diligent and experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee all maintenance activities at their facility in Centurion, Gauteng . This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all mining equipment and infrastructure. You will lead a team of skilled technicians, manage preventative maintenance schedules, and respond effectively to breakdowns to minimize operational downtime. The ideal candidate is adept at managing teams, possesses strong technical knowledge of heavy mining machinery, and is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency within a hybrid work model that balances site presence with strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, including mechanics, electricians, and fitters.
• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all mining equipment.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures, diagnose issues, and ensure timely repairs to minimize production loss.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes to ensure availability of critical components.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
• Oversee the implementation of new maintenance technologies and best practices to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Requirements

• A relevant technical qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4/5) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance supervision within the mining or heavy industrial sector .
• Proven experience with maintaining large mining equipment such as excavators, haul trucks, and drilling rigs.
• Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) .
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
