About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and practical Mine Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team for heavy equipment operations in the Soweto area. This role is critical for ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of the mine's fleet of mobile and fixed plant machinery. You will be responsible for supervising maintenance personnel, managing preventative maintenance programs, and overseeing repairs to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency. Your leadership will be key to maintaining the productivity of essential mining machinery .

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of mechanics and technicians responsible for heavy equipment maintenance.
• Develop, implement, and manage preventative and predictive maintenance schedules for the entire fleet.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy mining equipment.
• Ensure timely and cost-effective repairs, managing parts inventory and supplier relationships.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and analyze equipment performance data to identify trends.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Provide training and mentorship to maintenance staff to enhance their skills and safety awareness.

Requirements

• Trade qualification (e.g., Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in maintenance, preferably within the mining or heavy industry .
• Strong knowledge of heavy mining equipment (e.g., excavators, haul trucks, drills, crushers).
