Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressive hotel management experience.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Hotel General Manager to oversee all operations of their prominent property in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This leadership position is responsible for driving profitability, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction, and maintaining the highest standards of service and operational efficiency. The General Manager will lead a diverse team, manage all departments, and be the principal representative of the hotel in the local community and industry. This role demands a forward-thinking leader with a comprehensive understanding of hotel operations, finance, marketing, and human resources. You will be instrumental in upholding and enhancing the hotel's reputation for quality and hospitality excellence in the Richards Bay area. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, sales and marketing, and maintenance.
• Develop and implement strategic business plans to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
• Ensure the delivery of outstanding guest services and product quality across all touchpoints.
• Manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and P&L responsibility.
• Lead, motivate, and develop the hotel management team and staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Maintain and enhance the hotel's brand standards and reputation in the market.
• Oversee capital improvement projects and ensure the property is well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing.
• Develop and execute effective sales and marketing strategies to drive occupancy and revenue.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national regulations regarding health, safety, and labor laws.
• Act as the primary liaison with hotel owners, investors, and corporate management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in hotel management, with at least 5 years as a General Manager or Assistant General Manager in a comparable property.
• Proven track record of success in driving revenue, controlling costs, and achieving profitability targets.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse workforce.
• Comprehensive knowledge of hotel operations, financial management, marketing, and sales.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
• Familiarity with hotel management systems (PMS, CRS, POS).
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage complex situations effectively.
• Strong understanding of the Richards Bay market and its unique hospitality landscape.
