Job summary

FreeRecruit is seeking an Area Sales Manager in Pretoria to drive new business, manage customer relations, and oversee shelf product care and merchandisers. The role requires FMCG sales experience, a valid driver's license, and strong communication skills.

The candidate should be able to work independently, on weekends/public holidays when required, and demonstrate a proactive, detail-oriented approach with the ability to meet deadlines and report on progress.

Qualifications

• Matric; minimum education.
• Fluent in English and local South African languages.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• 3–5 years’ experience with general sales functions within the FMCG sector.
• Able to work independently.
• Willing to work weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to learn and drive processes to improve efficiencies.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate.
• Very neat and tidy work ethic.
• Pro-active with attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Find sales leads and increase new business.
• Gather market information regarding pricing and trends in the market.
• Attend to customer queries and complaints.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers.
• Product care on shelf – stock rotation, forward share, expiry date, storage conditions, etc.
• Manage customer credits and returns; drive strategy to reduce credits.
• Assist telesales in getting customer orders in time.
• Manage merchandisers at store level.
• Increase turnaround time for product delivery to customer through relationships.
• Provide regular reports (formal and informal).
