You'll collaborate with clients, vendors and staff to maintain high standards, ensure profitability, and drive memorable occasions in a dynamic hospitality environment.

About the Role

Our client, a premier event venue and hotel situated in the vibrant community of Tembisa, Gauteng , is seeking a highly organized and creative Banqueting & Events Manager . This pivotal role involves the planning, execution, and oversight of all banqueting and special events hosted at the venue. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that every event, from intimate gatherings to large-scale corporate functions and weddings, is executed flawlessly, meeting and exceeding client expectations. You will work closely with clients to understand their vision and translate it into a successful event, managing all logistical, catering, and operational aspects. Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of event planning, from initial client consultation to post-event follow-up.
• Develop detailed event proposals, budgets, and timelines, ensuring profitability and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate with the culinary team to design bespoke menus and ensure exceptional food and beverage service.
• Oversee the setup and breakdown of event spaces, ensuring adherence to layout plans and safety standards.
• Liaise with external vendors, such as decorators, AV technicians, and entertainment providers.
• Manage event staff, including banquet servers and supervisors, ensuring professional service delivery.
• Conduct venue tours and build strong relationships with potential clients.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during events to ensure a smooth operation.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and innovative event concepts.
• Maintain high standards of presentation and hygiene throughout all event areas.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Events or Banqueting Manager, preferably within a hotel or dedicated venue setting.
• Demonstrated success in managing a variety of events, from small to large scale.
• Strong understanding of event logistics, catering operations, and venue management.
• Excellent organizational, project management, and multitasking skills.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and client relationship management abilities.
• Proficiency in event management software and standard office applications.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, working flexible hours as required.
• Creative flair and a keen eye for detail.
• Knowledge of the local events market in Gauteng .
