Job summary

Cox Fleet in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II to perform DOT inspections, PMs, and diagnostics on light to heavy-duty trucks in a mobile/field setting. You will work independently under supervision, manage a service truck, document findings on RO with TRAIT, and meet safety and DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
• Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within eighteen (18) months.
• DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical required prior to employment.
• DOT medical card valid with >4 months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical.
• Must be at least 21 years old to operate interstate.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain Driver Qualification File.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled PMs, DOT Inspections, and follow-up repairs on light to heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical/braking/cooling systems, starters/alternators, and engine components.
• Inspect, test, and listen to equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld devices and gauges.
• Road test vehicles to verify proper operation after repairs.
• Document findings and parts used on Repair Orders via TRAIT on an iOS device.
