Job summary

College of DuPage is seeking a part-time Supervisor, Academic Lab to manage and maintain multiple academic labs (K123, Seaton Computing Center, and others). You will hire, train, schedule, and supervise lab aides, handle printing systems, and coordinate hardware/software support for instructors and students.

This role requires 1 year of supervision in a computing environment, strong English communication, and a foundation in Windows/Mac/Unix environments.

Qualifications

• Completion of core for a two year Associates Degree in Data Processing or equivalent work experience required.
• AS Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates student lab aides.
• Applies managerial expertise to determine promotions, disciplinary measures or termination of employment for lab aides.
• Schedules classroom labs and handles schedule conflicts.
• Tracks the sale of print cards and related records.
• Collects cash for the paid printing system.
• Communicates lab policy, schedules, and software/hardware availability to faculty and students.
• Maintains communication with faculty on lab issues affecting usage.
• Maintains lab usage statistics and reports.
• Provides access to software, hardware, and student accounts.
• Coordinates installation and maintenance of hardware/software.
• Provides technical assistance for software, printing, and projection systems.
• Responds to IT Help Desk requests.
• Solves problems with software, hardware, printing, and projection systems.
• Keeps daily lab activity reports for the Manager.
• Instructs faculty/staff on equipment use in labs.
• Contributes to IT staff training.
• Establishes daily operations policies for labs.
• Develops technical/procedural documentation.
• Collaborates with other IT areas on projects.
