Job summary

Harold Washington College, part of the City Colleges of Chicago, is seeking a part-time Computer Lab Assistant to assist teachers and students in the college computer lab. The role focuses on maintaining an orderly, productive environment and helping users complete tasks with appropriate software.

Responsibilities include demonstrating software applications, managing class flow, and keeping lab equipment clean and functional.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with PC/micro computer training; 1–2 years in a teaching environment with computer use.
• Team player with good communication skills; able to work with students, faculty and staff.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to relate well with students, faculty and staff; follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate software applications and keyboarding to students.
• Assist teachers by maintaining order and supporting software use.
• Instruct students in standard software use as required by the teacher.
• Maintain computers and peripheral equipment in clean and working condition.
• Maintain records such as weekly class schedules and check-out logs.
• Operate lab and office equipment (computer, printer, copier); use various software.
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
