Job summary

HDR is seeking a WTEM Business Class Director to lead the wastewater treatment and effluent management program. You will guide technical capability, mentor leaders, and collaborate with market sectors, groups and operations to deliver complex projects with high quality standards.

You will drive risk management, pursue research partnerships, and maintain industry presence through professional organizations while shaping long‑term capability and staff development across HDR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in related field.
• Must maintain a professional registration for leadership roles in technical design.
• Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
• Works cooperatively with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers.
• Committed to quality, HDR values and employee ownership culture.
• Active participation in HDR employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Provide company-wide leadership of technical capabilities within the business class.
• Build close working relationships and coordinate with related business classes, market sectors, business groups and operations.
• Lead and participate in technical risk management through process and resource reviews.
• Drive QA processes and coordinate with the Quality Manager.
• Oversee development and application of technical tools, standards and techniques to enhance service quality and efficiency.
• Oversee assignment of qualified, experienced staff to projects including worksharing.
• Develop strategic plans with market sector directors and provide input to leadership.
• Lead engagement with universities and industry organizations to advance capabilities.
• Mentor technical leaders and supervise staff.
• Monitor performance and implement corrective actions; oversee PARR processes.
