Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. seeks a Lead Engineer to advance the Continuous Improvement culture across our operations. You will analyze data, lead CI projects and drive automation to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost and growth.

You will interface with employees at all levels and may supervise CI engineers and QA professionals under guidance. The role requires strong data analytics, Lean Six Sigma, and engineering methods, with experience in warehousing and distribution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related field. Seven+ years in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing; or Master's with five+ years, MBA accepts engineering undergrad.
• 7+ years in related warehousing, transportation, and/or manufacturing experience.
• Microsoft Office Suite skills with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio (expert).
• Data visualization (PowerBI/Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX) preferred.
• Proficiency in Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and 5S.
• Knowledge of core engineering/data analysis functions (slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics).
• Experience with CAD, Slot3D, MOST, and WMS/Labor management tools; Lean expertise.
• Lean Six Sigma and certifications such as CPMP/ISO/QMS or APICS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; maps processes and identifies gaps; develops and executes CI plans.
• Leads high-impact CI projects across the operation; supports start-ups, retrofits, expansions, and automation.
• Coaches employees in lean methods; applies engineering methods to improve distribution and transportation operations.
• Supervises CI engineering and QA professionals; participates in hiring and performance management.
• Facilitates Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events; ensures sustainment of results with follow-up.
• Delivers regular progress reports and provides inventory/supply chain recommendations.
