Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Lead Engineer to advance continuous improvement across warehousing and transportation operations. You will lead data-driven CI, apply lean methods, and drive safety, quality, delivery and cost improvements.

The role interfaces with staff at all levels, may supervise CI engineers, and reports to the CI Manager/Sr. CI Manager, aligning with operations leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years in warehousing/transport/manufacturing, or MBA with 5+ years in related roles.
• 7+ years in warehousing, transportation and/or manufacturing.
• MS Office suite with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
• Data viz (PowerBI, Tableau) and SQL/DAX competency.
• Lean Six Sigma, PDCA, VSM, Kaizen, 5S knowledge.
• Engineering/data analysis skills: slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs analysis; documents processes; identifies gaps and drives CI plans.
• Manages high impact CI projects; supports start-ups, retrofits, and expansions; identifies automation opportunities.
• Coaches teams in CI, QA, and Lean principles; applies lean methods to operations.
• Supervises CI engineers/QA staff; assists in hiring and performance management.
• Leads Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events; ensures sustainment of improvements.
• Delivers regular data reports and recommends inventory/supply chain strategies.
