Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive continuous improvement across operations using data-driven CI, engineering and automation to improve safety, quality, delivery, costs and growth.

You will lead cross-functional CI initiatives, coach teams in Lean methods, and interface with management to sustain improvements and support startups, expansions and automation efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree as described; 7+ years in warehousing/ Transportation/ Manufacturing or 5 years with MBA and undergrad in Engineering.
• Microsoft Office suite with Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio; strong data handling.
• Data visualization (PowerBI/Tableau) and database programming (SQL) is a plus.
• Proficiency with Leader Standard Work, Visual Management, PDCA, VSM, Kaizen and 5S.
• Knowledge of core engineering and data analysis functions (slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics).
• WMS tools and automation knowledge (CAD, Slot3D, MOST; WMS such as Manhattan Scale).
• Lean Six Sigma; CPMP/ISO/QMS; APICS/SCM certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; maps processes and develops CI plans.
• Manages high impact CI projects; supports startups, retrofits, expansions and automation.
• Applies Lean methods; coaches in CI, QA and Lean principles; demonstrates broad engineering methods.
• May supervise CI engineers and participate in hiring and performance management.
• Facilitates Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events; coaches lean execution.
• Provides regular progress reports and makes inventory/supply chain strategy recommendations.
