Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive continuous improvement across our operations. You will lead data-driven CI, engineering and automation efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost and growth, interfacing with leadership and teams at all levels.

You will apply lean tools, develop transformation plans, and coach staff in CI and QA methodologies to deliver tangible business results. Travel may be required as part of continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 7+ years of related work in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing; or Master’s with 5+ years; MBA requires undergrad in engineering.
• 7+ years in warehousing/transportation and/or manufacturing.
• Microsoft Office with emphasis on Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio; data visualization tools like PowerBI/Tableau; SQL fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Leader Standard Work, Visual Management, PDCA, VSM, Kaizen, and 5S/Lean.
• Advanced knowledge of engineering/data analysis: slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics.
• Knowledge of CAD, slotting tools, MOST, WMS like Manhattan Scale, and labor management systems.
• Knowledge of dedicated services, managed transportation networks, and related software tools.
• Lean Six Sigma and related certifications.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; maps processes and drives continuous improvement.
• Leads high-impact CI projects across the operation; supports start-ups, retrofits, go-lives and certifications.
• Coaches employees in CI, QA, and Lean principles; applies engineering methods to optimize distribution/transportation.
• Supervises CI engineers and QA professionals; participates in hiring and performance management.
• Facilitates Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events; sustains improvements with follow-up.
• Provides regular reports on progress and recommends inventory/supply chain strategies.
