Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. seeks a Lead Engineer to drive continuous improvement across operations. You will lead data-driven CI initiatives, coach teams in lean methods, and manage cross-functional projects from ideation to sustained results.

The role interfaces with management to optimize safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. The position requires a strong background in engineering, data analysis, and Lean Six Sigma, with experience in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5–7+ years of related work experience.
• 7+ years in warehousing, transportation, or manufacturing domains.
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Data visualization skills in PowerBI or Tableau and database programming (SQL, DAX).
• Lean Six Sigma knowledge and project experience required.
• Strong engineering/data analysis capabilities for slotting, labor planning, layouts, and metrics.
• Experience with CAD/AutoCAD for warehouse design and slotting tools.
• Knowledge of WMS, labor management systems, and related automation.
• Understanding of warehouse operations and lean methodologies.
• Familiarity with transportation networks, routing, and design tools.
• Exposure to PIT equipment and automation in warehousing environments.
• Certifications such as APICS, CPIM, or similar; ISO/QMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collects data, performs analyses, and maps processes to identify CI opportunities.
• Leads high-impact CI projects across the operation improving safety, quality, delivery, cost.
• Coaches teams in lean methods and sustains improvements via Kaizen and value stream maps.
• Supports start-ups, retrofits, expansions, and automation initiatives.
• Provides regular progress reports and media for site objectives; advises on inventory/SC strategy.
• May supervise CI engineers and participate in hiring and performance management.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering/Business/Supply Chain

7+ years related experience in Warehousing/Transportation/Manufacturing

MS Office Suite (Access/Excel/PowerPoint/Visio)

Data visualization (PowerBI/Tableau) & SQL/DAX

Lean Six Sigma

Core engineering & data analysis (slotting, layouts, metrics)
