Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Lead Continuous Improvement Engineer to drive data-driven CI projects across warehousing, transportation, and manufacturing operations. You will identify gaps, lead Kaizen events, and coach teams in Lean and QA practices to deliver safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.

The role interfaces with General Manager/Director of Operations, may supervise CI resources, and reports to the CI Manager/Sr. CI Manager. Travel up to 10–15% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Business/Supply Chain with 7+ years in warehousing, transportation or manufacturing.
• 7+ years in warehousing/transportation and/or manufacturing.
• Microsoft Office Suite with Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio (Expert).
• Data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau) and SQL/DAX experience (Intermediate).
• Proficiency in Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems and PDCA, VSM, Kaizen, 5S/Workplace Organization (Intermediate).
• Understanding core engineering/data analytics functions such as slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics (Advanced).
• Knowledge of CAD-based warehouse design tools, Slot3D, MOST, WMS Manhattan Scale, Labor Mgt Systems (Advanced, Preferred).
• Knowledge of WMS operations, data analytics, Lean methods; PIT, racking, automation solutions (Advanced, Preferred).
• Knowledge of dedicated services and managed transportation networks; tools like JDA, Appian, Llamasoft, OTM, Tableau (Advanced, Preferred).
• Lean Six Sigma (Required).
• CPMP/ISO/QMS (Preferred).
• APICS or similar certification (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; maps processes and identifies gaps.
• Leads high impact CI projects across the operation and supports start-ups, retrofits, and expansions.
• Demonstrates engineering methods, Lean tools, and coaches others in CI/QA/Lean principles.
• May supervise CI engineering and quality professionals; participates in hiring and performance management.
• Facilitates Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen Events; coaches on lean methods.
• Provides regular reports on progress and makes supply chain strategy recommendations.
