Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. seeks a Lead Engineer to advance continuous improvement across the operation. You will apply data-driven CI, engineering, and automation to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth, interfacing with teams at all levels.

Responsibilities include leading high-impact CI projects, coaching teams in lean methods, facilitating Kaizen events, and delivering regular progress reports to influence site objectives and customer value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain and 7+ years in Warehousing/Transportation/Manufacturing.
• 7+ years in Warehousing, Transportation, or Manufacturing.
• Microsoft Office Suite: Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio (expert).
• Data visualization (Power BI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX) intermediate (preferred).
• Proficiency in Leading Standard Work, Visual Management, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S (intermediate).
• Knowledge of core engineering/data analytics: slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics (advanced).
• WMS tools (Manhattan Scale) and labor mgmt systems (advanced, preferred).
• Lean Six Sigma, cPMP/ISO/QMS, APICS/supply chain certs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; identifies process gaps and implements CI plans.
• Manages high-impact CI projects across the operation and supports startups/expansions and automation.
• Coach employees in CI, QA, Lean; apply tools like slotting, layout optimization, data profiling, and resource modeling.
• Possibly supervise CI engineers; participate in hiring and performance management.
• Lead Value Stream Maps and Kaizen events; train leaders in lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
• Provide regular data reports and inventory/supply chain strategy recommendations.
