Job summary

Provident Data Centers in Dallas, TX is seeking a VP of Power Development to build and lead behind-the-meter power initiatives for our hyperscale platform. You will partner with the development and land teams to identify sites, secure favorable power fundamentals, and cultivate relationships with IPPs, utilities, and other partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in power development, including generation, utility, or IPP experience.
  • Broad network of executive relationships across the IPP and power industry.
  • Knowledge of power generation technologies, including natural gas, renewables, and battery storage.
  • Experience structuring power generation deals, with a broad understanding of deal structure and economics.
  • Background in data centers or behind-the-meter power development preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-moving, rapidly evolving industry.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop behind-the-meter power solutions for hyperscale sites in collaboration with development and land teams.
  • Build relationships with IPPs, utilities, EPCs, fuel suppliers, and other players across the power ecosystem.
  • Lead procurement of natural gas and other fuel supplies to support generation and structure power agreements (PPA, tolling, fuel contracts).
  • Evaluate deal structures, economics, and financing to optimize project returns.
  • Lead business development efforts and position behind-the-meter power for prospective hyperscale customers.
