Job summary

Work Opportunities Unlimited (WOU) is seeking a Vocational Specialist (Career Resource Specialist) in Florida to help individuals with disabilities find meaningful employment. This role requires four years of public vocational rehabilitation/workforce development experience (or equivalent degrees) and involves resume and interview coaching, employer outreach, and on-site client coaching.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, Monday–Friday daytime hours, MS Office proficiency, and

• Or an associate’s degree with three years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree with two years, or a master’s with one year.

Responsibilities

• Develop career goals and objectives with individuals.
• Teach resume writing, applications, cover letters, and interview prep.
• Engage with local businesses to create job opportunities.
• Coach and guide individuals at job sites.
• Travel locally in personal vehicle to deliver community-based services (mileage reimbursement).

As a Vocational Specialist (known internally as a Career Resource Specialist) you will help individuals find meaningful employment. Please note that this role would require candidates to have the following experience:

Four years of experience in a public vocational rehabilitation and/or workforce development setting working with individuals with disabilities including responsibilities in job coaching and job placement ORan associate’s degree and three years of experienceORa bachelor’s degree and two years of experienceORa master’s degree and one year of experience.

A typical day might include the following:

• Working with individuals to develop career goals and objectives
• Teaching individuals how to create a customized resume, fill out effective job applications, write cover letters, and prepare for interviews
• Engaging with local businesses to develop potential job opportunities
• Coaching and guiding individuals at their job sites
• Community-based travel in your personal vehicle to facilitate community-based job development and coaching, ensuring all services are delivered directly in the local environment. (mileage reimbursement provided)

Pay: $19-$21 room for additional compensation based on supporting clients to achieve successful outcomes
