Job summary

Work Opportunities Unlimited is seeking an Employment Specialist to help individuals with disabilities find meaningful jobs. You will coach clients in resume building, applications, and interview prep, and collaborate with local businesses to create opportunities in the community.

The role requires four years of public vocational rehabilitation/workforce development experience or relevant degrees, and involves local travel with mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in a public vocational rehabilitation and/or workforce development setting with individuals with disabilities.
• Alternative education paths: associate degree with three years, bachelor’s degree with two years, or master’s degree with one year.
• Valid driver’s license for local travel and mileage reimbursement.
• Comfortable using MS Office and electronic documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Help individuals develop career goals and objectives.
• Teach resume creation, applications, cover letters, and interview preparation.
• Engage with local businesses to create job opportunities.
• Coach and guide individuals at their job sites.
• Travel within the local community to deliver services in natural settings.

As an Employment Specialist (known internally as a Career Resource Specialist) you will help individuals find meaningful employment. Please note that this role would require candidates to have the following experience:

Four years of experience in a public vocational rehabilitation and/or workforce development setting working with individuals with disabilities including responsibilities in job coaching and job placement OR an associate’s degree and three years of experience OR a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience OR a master’s degree and one year of experience.

A typical day might include the following:

• Working with individuals to develop career goals and objectives
• Teaching individuals how to create a customized resume, fill out effective job applications, write cover letters, and prepare for interviews
• Engaging with local businesses to develop potential job opportunities
• Coaching and guiding individuals at their job sites
• Community-based travel in your personal vehicle to facilitate community-based job development and coaching, ensuring all services are delivered directly in the local environment. (mileage reimbursement provided)

Pay: $19-$21 room for additional compensation based on supporting clients to achieve successful outcomes
