Job summary

Work Opportunities Unlimited in Fort Lauderdale, FL seeks an Employment Specialist to help individuals with disabilities find meaningful employment by coaching, resume development, and applying for roles with local businesses.

This role requires driving to community sites, proficiency with MS Office, and the ability to document outcomes in an electronic system. Work is Monday–Friday during daytime hours with competitive pay, benefits, and room for growth.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in a public vocational rehabilitation and/or workforce development setting working with individuals with disabilities.
• Alternative: associate’s degree with three years of experience, bachelor’s with two, or master’s with one.

Responsibilities

• Work with individuals to develop career goals and objectives.
• Teach resumes, applications, cover letters and interview preparation.
• Engage with local businesses to develop job opportunities.
• Coach and guide individuals at their job sites.
• Travel within the local community in your own vehicle; mileage reimbursement provided.

As an Employment Specialist (known internally as a Career Resource Specialist) you will help individuals find meaningful employment. Please note that this role would require candidates to have the following experience:

Four years of experience in a public vocational rehabilitation and/or workforce development setting working with individuals with disabilities including responsibilities in job coaching and job placement OR an associate’s degree and three years of experience OR a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience OR a master’s degree and one year of experience.

A typical day might include the following:

• Working with individuals to develop career goals and objectives
• Teaching individuals how to create a customized resume, fill out effective job applications, write cover letters, and prepare for interviews
• Engaging with local businesses to develop potential job opportunities
• Coaching and guiding individuals at their job sites
• Community-based travel in your personal vehicle to facilitate community-based job development and coaching, ensuring all services are delivered directly in the local environment. (mileage reimbursement provided)

Pay: $19-$21 room for additional compensation based on supporting clients to achieve successful outcomes
