Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Tech-Advisor to support VIP’s mission of earning automotive customers for life. The role blends counter service and shop technician duties, with required LMS trainings and ASE certifications.

You will help educate customers on vehicle conditions and partner with them on solutions, while upholding safety and service standards. Expect a 5-day, 40-hour work week in a shop environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of automotive servicing and the industry.
• One year of related experience in automotive service field.
• Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current, valid driver’s license.
• Equipment Safety Certification.
• ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required.
• ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended.
• ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended.
• ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering
• ASE Certification A5 – Brakes
• State Inspection License Required (where applicable)

Responsibilities

• Ensure workplace safety is priority and follow safety policies.
• Serve customers at the counter as a service writer, educate them about vehicle condition.
• Work in the shop as a technician when necessary and complete services.
• Complete required training and certifications for both roles.
• Aim for above-average customer engagement and billed hours.
• Learn VIP processes and execute duties to improve customer experience.
• Maintain facility and equipment in safe, clean condition.
• Enforce compliance with service ethics and regulations.
• Communicate with management to ensure policy adherence.
